Secondary Schools Arts Programme 2015/2016
Guidelines:
Waterford City & County Council’s Arts Office is now accepting expressions of interest from groups and/or individuals to deliver a strand of their Secondary School Arts Programme for the school year September 2015 /May 2016. This scheme applies to the delivery of a programme to secondary schools throughout Waterford City & County, including the Transition year module.
Innovative projects are required. The aim of this scheme is to give students a high quality artistic engagement. It is open to any artistic discipline including visual arts, music, dance, drama, literature, film, architecture, photography, new media, a combination of the above or an innovative stand alone project with a driving artistic element. The scheme will consider funding projects which also have funding allocated from other agencies.
Projects focusing on the development of existing school projects, murals, producing the school play, dance or end of year production will not be considered for funding. This scheme is artist led and applications from schools for individual projects cannot be catered for under this scheme.
The application & checklist may be completed by the educational coordinator of an arts organization, an individual artist and in the case of a number of artists, a lead practitioner must complete the form on behalf of the others but CV’s all those concerned must accompany the application.
It must be accompanied by a written proposal for the project indicating the aims, the theme, materials, processes, anticipated outcomes, deliverability, number of contact hours and number of classes and pupils that will participate in the project.
Engagement over a geographical area of Waterford and with a range of schools will be viewed positively. If you are in a position to give details of the schools with which you are engaging at this stage please do so. Otherwise please list the number of schools you hope to engage in the project and general geographic areas. Successful applicants will be expected to have these details confirmed before the project start date with an accompanying letter of confirmation from the school.
A proven track record of the artist/arts organization and evidence of artist/school collaboration should also be addressed.
Please indicate the planned time-frame for delivery and planned method of documentation for the project.
A budget breakdown for the project should accompany the application form to include all costs. Please note that insurance costs must not be included in the overall budget, these must be borne separately by the applicant. The budget must also list funding from any other source which is anticipated.
Applicants may make submissions on the basis of a minimum budget of €2,000 and a maximum budget of €4,000. It is at the discretion of the adjudication panel as to whether they will make a number of awards. They reserve the right not to make an award.
Only one application per artist/arts organisation will be considered.
Artists/arts organisations must have adequate insurance in place. Successful recipients must submit a letter from their insurance company indemnifying Waterford City & County Council and confirming that insurance for the project is in place.
It is a condition of this scheme that a member of staff of the educational establishment is present at all times with the artists/arts organisation while working with students in the school. Successful recipients must conform to all Health & Safety and Child Protection requirements of the schools. Where required, Garda Clearance must be provided. It is the schools responsibility to check employment references and to satisfy the schools policy in relation to engagement of external personnel and the local authority will take no liability in this regard or in respect of insurance.
Successful recipients must supply the Arts Office with a written report on completion of the project outlining its impact and with appropriate documentation of the project. They must also agree to any photographs being used by Waterford City & County Council for promotional purposes.
Hard copies only of submissions will be accepted to the address below. Emailed/faxed or electronic submissions will not be accepted.
Strictly no late applications will be considered.
The closing date for receipt of submissions is 12 noon on Monday 6th July 2015.
