May 9th, 11am,
The Large Room,
City Hall, Waterford.

The Arts Offices of Kilkenny, Waterford and Wexford want to hear your thoughts about the European Capital of Culture being located in the South East in 2020. We are arranging a series of meetings in each of the contributing Counties and Waterford’s one is on May 9th at 11am in the Large Room at City Hall.

If you are between the ages of 14 and 21 we want to hear YOUR thoughts and aspirations for our bid to become the Capital of Culture for 2020. We want to hear about ideas and dreams that could shape our future through such a process and we want to hear how you think that could work.

The meeting will take about 90 minutes in all. We will have soft drinks and Tea & Coffee (parents also welcome!).

Since 1985 the European Union designates one or more cities as a European Capital of Culture for a period of one calendar year. In 2020 Ireland is eligible to host the European Capital of Culture. The three counties of Waterford, Kilkenny and Wexford have come together to develop a regional Bid to win the title of European Capital of Culture in 2020. The Bid is an opportunity to generate considerable cultural, social and economic benefits for the region.

At the consultation you will hear about the bid process what we hope to achieve, the timeline and information on how to further contribute to the conversation. We will be using an abbreviation of the ‘World Café’ method on the day.
