WHAT STAFF ART WALL: MARLEY IRISH

Marley Irish is a Dermatology nurse in University Hospital Waterford (UHW), and is also a self taught artist.

She enjoys capturing group performances at the ballet, opera and horseracing festivals. Well known for her pastels she now concentrates primarily in oils and acrylic medium to much critical acclaim. Strong vivid colours depict the liveliness and movement in her subjects.

A regular exhibitor at Wexford Opera Festival, Kilkenny Arts Festival, and RDS Simmonscourt Dublin, Marley has also held solo exhibitions in Australia, USA, Philippines, Venice and Vienna. Her work is on permanent display at her own gallery and working studio at St Ives Gallery, Slieverue, Co.Kilkenny.

Being an avid fan of GAA, Marley has over the last few years concentrated her theme on the lively hurling, camogie and football sporting captions between the various County Teams. Michael O Muircheartaigh was presented with a painting of Marley’s on the occasion of his being presented with an Honorary Doctorate at Waterford Institute of Technology 2011. Carriganore Sports Complex WIT Waterford hosts a permanent collection of Marley’s hurling and camogie themed paintings.

Marley was recently invested as Dame in The Order Of Malta.
