The Wexford town branch of Comhaltas, Craobh Loch Garman, have announced details of the first Wexford Trad & Folk Fest, Feile Cheoil Tradisiúnta agus Béaloidis Loch Garman. It takes place March 1-3, 2019 at various venues around the town (see attached programme of events). There is a great weekend of activities in store which includes concerts, sessions, lectures, workshops and dance displays. The festival will showcase some of the wonderful musicians and dancers which Wexford has to offer as well as hosting concerts by some of the biggest names in Irish music.

There will be two top class concerts in the National Opera House featuring, on the Friday night, Liam Ó Maonlaí, Kevin Doherty, Ciaran Tourish, James Delaney, and, on Saturday, Zoë Conway, John McIntyre and special guest Máirtín O’Connor; Kíla’s Rónán Ó Snodaigh performs an intimate solo concert Saturday evening; uilleann piper, flautist and academic Louise Mulcahy tells the back-story of women pipers in words and music; Gorey duo,  Mark Redmond (uilleann pipes) & Patrick Fitzpatrick (clarinet, trad flute, whistles) do a repeat of their recent Tradfest sell-out show on Sunday afternoon; The Sky & The Ground hosts a couple of late sessions with The Wild Turkeys (Fri) and a renegade bunch of Wexford’s best led by Mick D’Arcy of Corner Boy (Sat); Co Wexford Traditional Singers will be there over the weekend as will hordes of talented young singers and musicians from around the county; the Sunday morning workshops with Zoë Conway, John Mc Intyre and Máirtín O’Connor are proving to be a big attraction with lots of young musicians already signed up.

The event is supported by Wexford County Council, Creative Ireland and na Macallaí.
