LAST CHANCE TO CATCH WATERFORD’S 2013 AVENUE FESTIVAL

It’s hard to believe that we are now in the last few days of the Avenue Festival – your last chance to get to see some of the best of Arts around!

Friday 26th
8.00pm, Southpaw – 18 Lombard Street (opposite Soma Gallery) – launch of new print and literature centre plus exhibit of works by Martin Fahy.
10.00pm, Downes Bar, Thomas St. ~ Vinyl Sessions: The famed sessions where DJs and punters alike get a chance to spin their original vinyl.

Saturday 27th
2.00pm, Central Library, Lady Lane ~ VAI – ‘The Common Room’: The Visual Artists Ireland Common room comes to Waterford with guest speaker VAI director Noel Kelly. Facilitated discussion around “the morphology of artist led structures”.
3.00pm, Ardkeen Library, Ardkeen Stores, Dunmore Road ~ Talk: Art Therapy: A talk on Art Therapy and its benefits by Art Therapist Martina Keane, all welcome. (051 849755)
7.00pm, ‘Hive Emerging’ Michael Street ~ Workshop ‘Thinkdocs’: A free introduction to documentary production with film maker Siobhain Cleary.
10.00pm, Revolution’s Basement Bar, John Street ~ Gig ‘The Vincents’ & Oh Boland: In association with Alliance Promotions presented by Dig. The fabulous Vincents launch their nationwide tour in Waterford playing a wicked mix of Indie Grunge and Noise Pop. Oh Boland This Galway 3 piece deliver a soup of noise and melody.

Sunday 28th
2.00pm, Greyfriars’ Gallery, Family Art workshops with Ciara Foley: Discover Waterford’s Municipal art collection with this fun filled workshop. Age 5+, children must be accompanied by an adult. pre-booking essential on 051 849983.
6.30pm, Garter Lane Arts Centre, O’Connell St. ~ Exhibition Preview of ‘Anamorph’ &‘Torque’ (FOH Space) with Live Performance by Olivia Hassett: Anamorph by Olivia Hassettexplores the human body’s potential to be simultaneously grotesque and sublime. The extraordinary ‘Torque’ by Donna Fitzymons will run in courtyard FOH Space.
