VOICES 

Friday, 14th December at 7.30pm – Christ Church Cathedral Waterford

‘Voices’ is set to be an enchanting, candlelit evening of 10th-13th Century Gregorian Chant, medieval polyphony, Georgian Orthodox Chant and old Irish Carols. For those of you who want a concert of quiet contemplation and raw beauty then this is for you. 

Bringing to light a new generation of singers in Ireland; the voices are Hannah Fahey (Mezzo), Sinead Boomsma (Soprano), Cara Morrissey-Gleeson (Contralto) and Sinead McGuire (Contralto), all graduates of the B.A. in Voice and Dance at the University of Limerick. 

This rich blend of voices, create a sound that can only be obtained from years of training and singing together. The group have worked with international chant scholars, Georgian Chant scholars and Irish song collectors and have toured and recorded with their University ensemble ‘Hibernia’. Both Hannah Fahey and Sinead McGuire are current students of the M.A. in Ritual Chant and Song at the Irish World Academy and active members of Lucernarium and Sonas: The UL Global Choir. 

‘Voices’ promises to be a very special celebration of the beauty of the human voice, through a diverse and captivating spiritual repertoire. 

This is the finale of a short series of three choral concerts this season, which was generously supported by the Arts Council of Ireland.
