The Arts Office of Waterford City & County Council has announced that applications are currently open to attend The Tyrone Guthrie Centre at Annaghmakerrig, the artists’ workplace in County Monaghan during 2018.

Artists can avail of residential stays during 2018 to work on specific artistic projects.

The Tyrone Guthrie, at Annaghmakerrig, Co. Monaghan is a unique place for artists to get away from it all and concentrate on their art work.  Set in a beautiful estate of 450 acres, the Centre provides a full support service for arts practitioners, including writing rooms, darkroom, music room, individual artists studios, rehearsal spaces and an extensive library.  It also affords the opportunity for artists to network with each other.

Eligibility:

For the twentieth year, the Arts Office is offering a special bursary award to an artist born or currently living in the Waterford City & County Council Administrative Area.

You must be resident for a minimum of 2 years to be eligible for this award.

The bursary is open to practitioners of all the arts.

You must be over 18 years of age to apply. Priority will be given to new Applicants.

The closing date for receipt of applications is 12 noon on Tuesday 8th May 2018.

Award:

The award will enable the chosen artist to spend two weeks at The Tyrone Guthrie Centre, covering all board and lodging expenses, plus the use of a studio if required.  The successful applicant will be able to take advantage of this prestigious award to stay at The Tyrone Guthrie Centre at a suitable time agreed with the Centre before the end of 2018. (If space is available the award can be used for two separate weeks if required). The Tyrone Guthrie Centre also has facilities for people with special needs and can facilitate board & lodgings for a person to accompany the artist in association with this award. Applicants should note this requirement on their application form.

We are also offering an option of a One Week residency only. If you would like to be considered for this, should you not be successful with the two week residency please tick the box on the application form.

How to Apply:

Both established and emerging artists are invited to apply, giving details of achievements to date, describing current work and stating specifically what they wish to accomplish during their stay at Annaghmakerrig. This project outline is the deciding factor and should demonstrate that the artist is working towards an exhibition, publication, performance or work essential to their artistic development which will be helped by a stay at the Centre.

Waterford City & County Council reserve the right not to award the Bursary should the appropriate standard/criteria not be reached.

Each application form should be accompanied by a current CV and some photographic/written examples of your work.
