TREELINES & SKYLINES EXHIBITION EXTENDED IN GREYFRIARS

 

updated treelines and skylinesTreelines & Skylines In Greyfriars Municipal Art Gallery has now been extended until May 18th.

An exhibition of paintings from the Waterford Municipal Art Collection, featuring artwork by Transition Year students, facilitated by Christine O’Brien as part of Waterford City & County Council’s Schools program.

The student side of the exhibition was created during a short series of workshops during November and December 2017. Many of the participants from Ard Scoil na Mara,  De la Salle College, the Presentation Convent and Waterpark College had not studied art before.

A watercolour painting ‘After the Rain’ by Waterford artist John O’Regan was the inspiration for the workshops. The exhibition is part of Waterford City & County Council’s Secondary School Arts Programme.

A number of paintings from the Municipal Collection were referenced during the workshops and are on display as part of the exhibition. These include work by Frank Egginton, Norah McGuinness, Maurice MacGonigal, Cecily Brennan, Martin Quigley, Elizabeth Leonard, James Humber Craig , Joan Chambers, and Nathaniel Hone, the Younger.

The gallery is open to the public between 10am and 5pm, from Tuesday to Saturday and will now run till the 18th of May 2018

Schools groups are welcome though booking is essential.
