An introduction to the fascinating world of gem minerals and gemstones, discover how they are formed, why some are prized more highly than others, how similar looking gems can be distinguished from one another and how we can tell a natural, from a synthetic or a fake.
Afterwards take the opportunity to use some of the equipment involved.
