THREE SISTERS 2020 EUROPEAN CAPITAL OF CULTURE BID SHORTLISTED!

Following Pre-selection presentations in Dublin on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th of November The Three Sisters European Capital of Culture 2020 bid was shortlisted along with the Limerick and Galway bids.
The bid team led by Waterford Director of Services Michael Quinn spent the last 12 months working with Kilkenny and Wexford to deliver a cohesive proposal that would play to the strengths of the South East while catching the imagination of Europe. The team now have six months to put a viable, costed full scale plan together. It will have to show how the incorporated cultural artistic heritage of the counties can impact on a wider European agenda and how in turn the South East will benefit.
The 2020 bid will enable the region to focus its collective ambition towards the development of an informed and sustainable regional identity. By harnessing the creative and collaborative potential of rural and urban areas, the bid should foster new ways of working that connect, support and transform the lives of those living, working and creating in the South East region, against the backdrop of a shared European heritage.Three Sisters
