The Memory of Water

October 18 & 19 – 8pm

Because you can’t choose your family….
Three sisters come together in a highly charged atmosphere on the eve of their mother’s funeral. With a storm raging outside they laugh and cry, rage and bicker as the conflicts of the past and their hold on the present are mercilessly exposed. This searing comedy exposes the patterns and strains of family life in a way that will be familiar to all. The Memory of Water by Shelagh Stephenson is one of those great nights at the theatre and is simply not to be missed.
Ben Barnes’s production for Theatre Royal counterpoints Stephenson’s comedy and poignancy with a command that is not easily forgotten. Irish Times
The Theatre Royal production (at Gertre Lane) expresses the sharp edged comedy of Stephenson’s text and allows the pathos to emerge in delicate contrast – Irish Theatre Magazine
(In association with the Imagine Arts Festival)
