The Robert Boyle Summer School brings science and history to the Waterford Gathering

Thursday July 4th to Sunday July 7th 2013
The Robert Boyle Summer School is a four day retreat in the tranquil environs of Lismore heritage town. It will take place between 4th-7th July 2013. A stimulating programme features speakers from around the world, panel discussions, a tour of Lismore Castle Gardens and also a BBQ in the Castle Courtyard and a guided coach tour of West Waterford. The school celebrates the life, work and legacy of Robert Boyle who has had more impact on civilization than any other Waterford-born person. Boyle was the most important scientist of his time but his importance goes well beyond his scientific discoveries: he helped found the modern age.
This event has been chosen as one of the Waterford flagship Gathering events for 2013. The Summer School will provide a unique opportunity for local and international visitors to consider some of the biggest issues and engage with new ideas. The gathering will be addressed by Sean Sherlock, minister for Research and Innovation at a special BBQ in the Castle Courtyard on the Friday evening. There is a special on-line price of €50 for all talks.
