Our tale begins some five hundred years ago. A hooded figure alters the flow of a river, giving birth to a blackwater baby lake. Its stout water having masked its maker’s secret, until now.
The Drift Seed Armoury is a story of a young boy and his quest to solve a century-old mystery. We see the summer of 1985 through his eyes, as he moves from the rolling hills of his home on the emerald isle of Eire to the concrete canyons of Manhattan to the arid landscape of the American West. It is a mythopoetic meditation on family, friendship, adventure, and the power of stories.
I began writing this book for my son, Finn Solomon. It was just supposed to be an adventure story, with some weird and wonderful facts thrown in and maybe some life lessons scattered between the lines, but before I got around to finishing the book, along came a little sister, Millie Arwen. They both inspired me so much that I would never, and could never, have done any of this without them.
Some other wonderful souls have helped to make this project possible: Nick Hurt who has been busy narrating the audiobook, Fiona Clancy who worked on the first edit; while below are some samples of the incredible artwork by Niall Murphy, and Elaine Casey at Hard Case Design.
If you’ve made it this far, please check out the ‘treatment trailer’ of the book. Big thanks to Kickstarter. If you‘d like to support our project, all the details are at the bottom of the campaign page.
