Fionnuala De Búrca – Soprano
Aingeala De Búrca – Violin
Michael Joyce – Piano
‘Songs of Love and Longing’ – a concert featuring two seldom performed song cycles for the unusual combination of voice and violin. Composed by life-long friends Ralph Vaughan Williams and Gustav Holst, both works express great depth of feeling through the integration of earthy folk simplicity with profound, haunting melodies and austere accompaniment.
Sisters, Fionnuala and Aingeala De Búrca (soprano and violin) will be joined by Micheal Joyce (piano) to perform beautiful chamber music from France and Russia by Hahn, Debussy, Saint-Saens and Rachmaninoff.
Michael has performed throughout Ireland and internationally at venues including Maggio Musicale, Florence; Casa da Musica, Porto; and Wigmore Hall, London. Aingeala has performed in diverse settings, from the Irish Baroque Orchestra to Anuna and In Tua Nua. Fionnuala was a member of the National Chamber Choir prior to her move to London in 2003 to study with Paula Anglin and in May 2004, she made her operatic debut as Musetta in Puccini’s La Boheme.
