Waterford Concert Orchestra
presents A Salute to Rodgers and Hammerstein
The Large Room November 9 – 20.00
Since their initial collaboration in 1943 on the show Oklahoma! Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II have entertained audiences with their hugely popular and award winning shows. In a wonderful evening’s entertainment Waterford Concert Orchestra presents excerpts from the five most popular shows by this two highly influential American team. Soloists Annalisa Evans (Wicklow) and Waterford’s Caroline Reid-O’Brien, Dermot Doyle and Tobie Hickey bring a wealth of stage experience to bear on hugely popular songs such as We kiss in a Shadow from The King and I, Some Enchanted Evening from South Pacific, You’ll Never Walk Alone from Carousel, Climb Every Mountain from The Sound of Music and Oh! What a Beautiful Mornin’ from Oklahoma! The chorus is comprised of members of both Madrigallery and Ad Hoc Chorale – two of the best choirs in the south east. These combined forces are sure to create a fine performance of There is Nothin’ Like a Dame (South Pacific), June is Bustin’ Out All Over (Carousel), Do Re Me (The Sound of Music) and of course the ever popular Oklahoma! chorus. Rarely does an audience get to hear these memorable melodies accompanied by a full orchestra but that is exactly what they will hear on November 9th in Waterford. Waterford Concert Orchestra, established only four years ago, has begun to build a firm following for its entertaining and accessible performances. Performing music from the baroque to film scores, the orchestra is determined to ensure that orchestral music is seen as part of the general entertainment business and not just for a privileged few. The entire ensemble will be directed by Kevin O’Carroll, who continues to innovate and entertain audiences in Waterford and further afield. The performance takes place in The Large Room, City Hall, Waterford on November 9th at 8.00pm. Tickets €18 and €15 are available from the Box Office at Garter Lane Telephone 051-855038 or book online at www.garterlane.ie. Tickets will also be available at the door.
