Christ Church Cathedral Waterford, Saturday, 4th February @ 8pm

Winner of 2016 News & Star Green Room Awards “Best Choir” and “Best Concert”

Madrigallery Chamber Choir presents an evening of intriguingly diverse works of sacred music from early plainchant to pieces specifically composed for the choir’s recent 25th anniversary.

Music performed will include works by composers from the Baroque, Romantic and Modern eras such as Vivaldi (Gloria), Rachmaninov (Bogotovitse Devo), Howells (Requiem). It will also include works by less well known composers like Jonathan Dove, whose Gloria is a modern, fast-paced and exuberant setting of the Christmas prayer.

Not all church music is serious and several Gospel style numbers are also included – two in settings by the Director of the London Adventist Chorale, Ken Burton, and one setting by Madrigallery’s own Director, Kevin O’Carroll.

The choir will be accompanied by award-winning young organist Robbie Carroll on Christ Church Cathedral’s magnificent Elliot organ. Robbie is originally from Galway but is currently studying at DIT Conservatory of Music and is Organ Scholar at Dublin’s Pro-Cathedral.

Reviews of Madrigallery’s most recent concerts showed the chamber choir with superlatives like “Magnificent”, “Uplifting”, “Vocal Excellence”, “Hypnotic”. The choir look forward to treating their audience to yet another truly uplifting and musical experience!
