READ MÓR: 4,500 BOOKS GIFTED ON CULTURE NIGHT

Passengers on Irish Rail Intercity and Bus Éireann Expressway services will be gifted a free book on Culture Night / Oíche Chultúir 2022 by the Arts Council.

The Read Mór gifting project is part of the Arts Council’s 70th anniversary programme and passengers will have a ticket to the furthest reaches of their imagination from one of 21 different books by Irish based authors and publishers.

Book Conductors will be present in Heuston Station, Connolly Station, Bus Áras, Cork, Galway, Sligo and Waterford on Culture Night to gift the books to passengers. There will also be a Book Conductor on board a select number of trains with their Library Trolley ready to gift passengers a book from a wide selection of Irish-based authors. Passengers are encouraged to share the joy of reading when they have finished their book and re-gift it to another. There will be a wide variety of titles available to suit all interests and ages, from novels, short stories, poetry, memoirs, children’s and young adult books, in both English and Irish. A number of audio books from a variety of the titles will also be available.

The authors who are part of the Read Mór gifting programme include; Colm Tóibín; Marian Keyes; Claire Keegan; Doireann Ní Ghríofa; Sophie White; Pat Boran; Annie West; Rosaleen McDonagh; Kevin Power; Annemarie Ní Churreáin; Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin; Tadhg Mac Dhonnagáin; Nithy Kasa; Chris Haughton; Jarlath Gregory; Wendy Erskine; David O’Doherty; Helena Close; Sadhbh Devlin; Colin Barrett and Bebe Ashley.
