Poetry Day Ireland takes place on Thursday 26 April 2018 and the theme is Poetry Surprises! Whether you share a poem, read a poem, or programme your own event, everyone is invited to join in and celebrate. There is a host of exciting events taking place in Waterford City and county in celebration, and if you are bursting with ideas yourself, or would simply love the opportunity to showcase your talents, don’t fret, there is still time to get involved! 11am Elevenses @ The Book Centre With Waterford Writers
1pm Slam Poetry @ The Parlour Vintage Tea Rooms With Colette Colfer (Please note there is a ten euro entrance fee for this event. Admission includes a lunch of soup sandwich and tea/coffee.)
1.30pm Lunchtime Poetry Reading with Mark Roper and Lani O’ Hanlon at the Molly Keane Writers Retreat, Ardmore. (This is a free event but reservations are required, book by contacting 0851145395)

2pm Showcase of original Poetry, Plays and Music @ Shine Discovery
2.30pm An afternoon of Coffee, Cake and Poetry @ Tramore Library
7pm Modwords Vs The Lit ** Two modern spoken word groups join forces @ Greyfriars Gallery
7pm Poetry readings by Thomas McCarthy and Lani O Hanlon @ Cappoquin Library, Co. Waterford
8pm Rose Butler, John Daly, and Tom Power, and singer/musicians Gabriell Murtagh, and Tadhg Buckley will entertain you in The Gealach Gorm Theatre in Kill, in an informal evening of poetry, music, and song. Admission €5 , 8 to ten o clock.
9pm Finale @ The Rogue Gallery & Studios. Tales of Fairies, Folklore, secrets of the mountains, myths and all things magic. Over 18s event.
