Imagine a night with celebrated Irish pianist & composer Philip Martin performing live some jewels of the romantic and jazzy piano repertoire. From Beethoven’s ‘Moonlight Sonata’, Mendelssohn’s version of ‘The Last Rose of Summer’, three of Chopin’s famous Waltzes, jazzy pieces by L.M. Gottschalk (the American “Chopin of the Creoles”), piano arrangements of Gershwin’s ‘The Man I Love’, ‘Somebody Loves Me, ‘Sweet and Low Down’, ‘Liza’, and ‘I Got Rhythm’, to Martin’s own ‘Three Nocturnes’ and ‘New York Nights’.
Philip Martin makes the romance and the jazz come alive on Thursday 4 April in the atmospheric Large Room of Waterford’s City Hall.
