The Coastguard Cultural Centre, September 7th 2018 at 8pm
Tickets €10
Omega 3 love the unique atmosphere of The Coastguard Cultural Centre that they keep coming back.
In truth, the atmosphere was created by them and their unique set-list, which has been described as “country blues meets folk meets jazz”.
You quickly realise by their “witty asides” that this band are having fun, and this feeling rapidly feeds down to the audience.
If you missed them on their previous visits I would strongly recommend that you come along for another great nights entertainment..
Omega Three came together to play the music they like, and what they came up with, just like the members themselves, is not too easy to categorise. If it’s any help you will hear swing and rag-time tunes and some jazz standards along with classic acoustic songs from the likes of Bob Dylan, Doc Watson, Happy Traum and John Martyn.
Francie, Mickey and the two Gerry s will be joined once again by Alan Coonagh on saxophone.
In a recent review The Munster Express’s Liam Murphy said ‘This is a band with musical heft’. Liam went on to describe a recent Omega Three gig as ‘Easy listening to a quartet of seasoned musicians fronted by Francie White, who has an amazing country blues voice, with the sort of ‘chops’ that reminded me fondly of George Melly.Michael Dower sat like a Grand Senor and mellowed with panache on acoustic bass guitar, while Gerry Madden on mandolin, showed how musically tight this band is. Gerry Power on guitar and vocals kept the happy mood going’.
