Gavin James + Hudson Taylor + Brave Giant & Saarloos
Saturday 1st June & doors 6:30 p.m. Tickets: €46.00 [over 16’s only] click here.
In June 2013, Gavin James made his first Irish festival appearance with the opening slot at the first Daytripper in Bolton Street. Very few in that audience would have known who he was, but everyone was impressed by his amazing voice and the quality of his early songs. 6 years on Gavin returns to headline Daytripper as a global recording star and one of Ireland’s most successful live acts having sold out the 14,000 capacity 3Arena and performed to a full main stage crowd of 35,000 at this summer’s Electric Picnic, with many calling it the set of the weekend.
Hudson Taylor played the biggest shows of their career in 2018. During the summer they performed on the main stage at Electric Picnic to a crowd of 40,000, being one of the few acts over the weekend (another was Gavin James !) that filled the main field from front to back. They supported good friend, Hozier, on his recent USA dates and also played before Gavin James (as they will at Daytripper 2019) in front of 20,000 people at the New Years Festival in Dublin. They also did their own record breaking run of 6 sold out nights at Whelans in Dublin in December.
Brave Giant were THE breakthrough new Irish act of 2018 and had a dream end to the year when they joined Chasing Abbey, Keywest, Walking On Cars and Hozier at the 2FM XMAS BALL in aid of the ISPCC at the 3Arena in December. On the same day as the Longford based four-piece played 3Arena, tickets for the band’s biggest headline show to date at The Olympia in Dublin went on sale and it’s already well on the way to a 1,600 capacity sell out. Brave Giant will make their highly anticipated Waterford debut at Daytripper on Saturday, 1 June.
Maddness – XL Tour
Sunday 2nd June & doors 6:30 p.m. Tickets: €49.50 [over 16’s only] click here.
Friends, mad heads and countrymen. Lend me your ears. This year be the 40th anniversary of the groupus maximus MADNESS XL. To celebrate, the UK & Ireland will be witness to celebrations of Romanesque proportions as Madness now unveil plans for 2019 that will make it one of the biggest yet for the legendary, evergreen, band. Fresher of face and fleeter of foot than ever, it’s hard to believe 2019 will mark forty years since a rag tag of self-proclaimed ‘hoolies and urchins’ first emerged, gloriously unreconstructed from the back streets of Camden Town fusing reggae, punk and pop on their classic album ‘One Step Beyond’. Now entering the 40th year of their near Imperial reign over popular music, 2019 sees a raft of activity with two huge shows in London and an extensive run of big outdoor festival and event shows, including a return to Daytripper in Waterford on Bank Holiday Sunday, 2 June. It is generally agreed that the show Madness performed at the first Daytripper in 2013 was the best live gig ever put on in the city and the anticipation for their return will be huge.
Postal Address: Daytripper, Forum Waterford, The Glen, Waterford.
