Joe Harney aka Deaf Joe for Music at the Museum
After the hugely successful launch of Sunday Lunchtime Concerts recently with The Muggins, Music at the Museum is delighted to present Joe Harney aka Deaf Joe at the Medieval Museum on Sunday 3rd March at 12.30 pm. For this upcoming gig, Joe (piano and vocals) will be joined by fellow musician and friend Peter Vogelaar (double bass). Together they will play quiet, mellow renditions of a mix of both old and new tracks producing an alternative folk sound. Joe’s music drifts and floats, hangs softly in the air; perfect Sunday music. You can sample his sound at https://soundcloud.com/the-delphi-label/burrowing-deaf-joe . A native of Waterford, Joe saw the release of his first album ‘Burrowings’ in 2012 on Dublin’s Delphi Label. Burrowings has received much air play and positive support from various national DJs as it continues to feel its way out there into the world. George Ergatoudis, head of music at BBC Radio1, recently remarked its final track ‘Joanna’ to be ‘something special’. Joe is currently preparing the release of his second album, due in April ’13. As a restless guy, he is also involved in a number of music and art projects. He is a live and recording member of fellow Waterfordian Katie Kim’s band, and also recently joined up and coming band Percolator on keyboards. Late last year saw him work as sound designer on Red Kettle’s production of new play, Beyond the Brooklyn Sky, which had a hugely successful run in Waterford and an equally successful run at the Dublin Theatre Festival. March will see his collaboration with contemporary artist Mary Kelly exhibited at the RHA, Dublin. Don’t miss this opportunity to catch the performance in the atmospheric and unique setting that is the Medieval Museum. Remember to avail of a guided tour of the museum at the reduced price of €2 and 10% off lunch at the Munster Bar with concert ticket.
