LUNCHTIME ARIAS

Friday 22nd February to Friday 26 April 2013 – Theatre Royal, Waterford

Providing performance opportunities for young Irish Singers

The Lismore Music Festival (LMF) in association with  RTÉ lyric fm presents Lunchtime Arias at the Theatre Royal in February, March, April, May, Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec 2013

The popular and sell out Lunchtime Arias Series comes to Waterford for the first time in February 2013. For just €18 audiences can enjoy delicious soup and a sandwich and arias sung by Irish vocal students with guest artists .

The lunchtime concerts are hosted by Irish Soprano Sandra Oman and are part of the Lismore Music Festival’s commitment to supporting young Irish singers and providing them with a much needed platform for public performance.

‘There is currently a void for performance opportunities for young Irish singers with the closure of Opera Ireland.  The Lismore Music Festival aims to bring the best of Irish and International talent to its festival productions each year and plans to develop the lunchtime arias concept into a regular fixture at the Theatre Royal and elsewhere around the country with the support of RTÉ lyric fm’  Jennifer O’Connell,  LMF Founder/Director.

‘Young and aspiring professional singers desperately need every performance opportunity they can get.  Competitions assist them to a certain degree.  But more importantly, they require non-judgemental performance situations to hone their craft.  The greatest teaching in the world, within the confines of the classroom or studio, is ineffective if the student does not have the chance to apply his or her knowledge to real life working situations.  LMF Lunchtime Arias at the Theatre Royal provides just that.’ Sandra Oman, Soprano

Doors open at 12.30 for lunch, performances begin at 1.15.  Places are limited and sell fast. Tickets must be reserved in advance 051 874402 or online at www.lismoremusicfestival.com.  For further information visit our websitewww.theatreroyal.ie
