Traces Dance Ensemble are delighted to announce that its experienced members will be involved with a new dance project to showcase their work in their 10th anniversary year, under the direction of the Dance Artist in Residence, Dee Grant during June, July 2019

10 out of 10 (working title) is a new integrated dance work, choreographed by Dee Grant in collaboration with the cast. This new work is kindly funded by a Professional Project Grant Scheme from Waterford City & County Council and generous in-kind support from Garter Lane Arts Centre.

This is an integrated work featuring 8 company members from Traces Dance Ensemble, as well as 4 professional Independent Dance Artists, Rachel Ni Bhraonain, Jess Rowell, Trish Murphy and David Ronan, (all who were involved in Garter Lane Arts Centre’s dance residency programme in 2018/2019).  These dancers have been interacting with Traces through a series of specially designed workshops through-out April -June 2019 and will enter the theatre and recording phase in 2nd-4th July where they will be in residence in the theatre. Dee Grant’s dynamic new dance work, aims to challenge our ideas around partnership and inspiration, of sharing space together, finding deep connection and embracing each and everyone’s difference.

This new work is a testament to Traces Dance Ensemble’s journey that they have been on for the past ten years of the company’s existence. It speaks about the notion of true integration not just in society but in dance platforms, in expanding performance opportunities for people with Down Syndrome and developing further opportunities where they can share their choreographic work to mainstream audiences.

The work goes into full rehearsal mode, at the theatre 2-4th July 2019, where on the final day (4th July) it welcomes members of the public to join us (for an hr) in the audience for a live recorded sharing of this work. Visit tracesdance for presentation times & details closer to the time.

Traces have been invited to perform this work at the Spraoi International Street Arts Festival on August 2019.
