Jane Morrow in Conversation at Garter Lane Arts Centre

Garter Lane Arts Centre in Collaboration with Waterford Gallery of Art are delighted to offer a talk by Curator, Writer and Researcher, Jane Morrow on her practice and projects as part of our Creative Professional development Programming.

About Jane Morrow:

I am a visual art curator, writer, and researcher with a specialism in artist and organisational development. I am interested in infrastructure; working across network and production contexts, and formal and informal learning environments for practitioners. Resourcing, nurturing and profiling others’ practices has been a longstanding facet of my work.

I am Co-Director of PS2, an artist-led collective, connecting art and society, in the centre of Belfast. We undertake projects both onsite, in our Project Space and offsite – in urban, suburban and rural locations – to enable the public to enjoy and participate in art and their locale. Artist and sector development is a big part of our work. We have ten artists’ studio spaces; three annual in-residence programmes for curators, writers and collectives; a range of artist development opportunities; and are host to some 30 project artists each year for exhibitions and events.

I also develop independent projects, such as co-founding Angelica: a network which aims to amplify the voices of visual artists and curators based on the island of Ireland who self-identify as women or minority gender, who are also from underrepresented cultural or ethnic backgrounds.

I have held numerous strategic, programming and fundraising roles for galleries, initiatives, local authorities and individuals around the UK and Ireland, including, for example, Ikon Gallery, Wolverhampton Art Gallery, Firstsite, London Sculpture Workshop, Jerwood Arts, PLACE,
University of Atypical, Visual Artists NI/Ireland, Ormston House, and CCA Derry~Londonderry.
