JACK L AT THE THEATRE ROYAL

Saturday January 3, 2015 8:00pm

The sensational Jack L returns to Waterford on the first Saturday of the New Year to play the the Theatre Royal in the Viking Triangle.

He will be playing songs from his new album: Jack Lukeman: Northern Lights, Songs for the Winter Solstice which was recorded live at Dublin’s Unitarian Church on Stephen’s Green.
Lukeman is one of Ireland’s most respected and best loved performers. Described as ‘a mixture of all the great voices of the 20th Century ’ (The Guardian), few can match his award-winning powerhouse vocals and inventive live shows.

Jack’s ever-evolving sound of soulful ‘baroque and roll’ can be heard on his recent six-time platinum-selling, number one album The Story So Far, a song collection perfectly selected to display Jack’s amazing vocal range.

“Lukeman’s voice is powerful and fluid. His range too is impressive, from the deep baritone resonance of ‘When The Moon Is High’ to the aching falsetto of the magnificent ‘Rooftop Lullaby’”

Jack first came to prominence with his interpretation of the works of Belgian songwriter Jacques Brel, culminating in his album Wax. The release of Metropolis Blue followed, with the hits ‘Georgie Boy’ and ‘Rooftop Lullaby,’ propelling him onto the world stage, where he became a fixture on both US and European touring circuits. Soon after Jack enjoyed a sold-out performance at Dublin’s Point Theatre, which was broadcast live on RTE Television.

Last year he released the Great Wall of China EP, a song cycle and travelogue with songs such as The Ghosts of Malta and Nick Drake. Kicking off The Great Wall of China Tour saw him support Jools Holland’s UK tour.
