About the artist
A visual art graduate from SETU Waterford, Elaine Somers-Cashen explores the contemporary Irish landscape through her connection to her family’s Wexford farm. Her large-scale charcoal drawings on Fabriano paper are created using charcoal sourced from native trees on the farm. These works document the ever-evolving rural environment and its subtle shifts, reflecting her fourth-generation relationship with the land.
Elaine’s work formed part of the GOMA Graduate Award Exhibition 2025, an annual celebration of the exceptional talent emerging from Ireland’s art colleges.
The award highlights the work of three emerging artists in 2025: Elaine Somers-Cashen, Leslie Allen Spillane, and Fionn Timmins.
