The First Cut! Youth Film Festival now accepting submissions for the 7th edition in the following Categories: Animation, Fictional Shorts, Music Video, Short Shorts ‘one minute wonders’, Documentary, Schools and Third Level Students. Each year there is a Call for films that are made by young people under the age of 24. Submissions are accepted from individuals, schools, colleges, clubs and projects.
First Cut set out in 2016 to create a festival focused solely on young filmmakers, providing events tailored to their needs- to screen, to network, to learn- from each other and from professionals. Above all we want to showcase short films made by the next generation of Irish Filmmakers in an enjoyable safe nurturing environment, enabling them to confidently develop their skills.
First Cut! 2016 Festival will be taking place in Youghal, Co. Cork, Ireland. Following the success of two year’s events in Youghal, the 2016 festival puts down roots; geographically well placed and with strong community support, First Cut! will have at its hub the stunning Mall Arts Centre. The festival creates a pop-up ‘big screen’ cinema in this wonderful venue which lends itself perfectly to work shops and a great space for everyone who participates to mix and mingle.
