Waterford Music is excited to welcome back internationally renowned pianist Finghin Collins to the Large Room, City Hall, Waterford on Friday 1st November at 7:30pm, as he celebrates the 20th anniversary of his win at the Clara Haskil International Piano Competition in Switzerland. Collins reprises two important piano sonatas – Mozart’s ‘Alla Turka’ and Schubert’s Sonata in A major, as well as two short pieces he has been instrumental in commissioning for the New Ross Piano Festival, composed by Marian Ingoldsby and Philip Martin.

Collins’ flourishing career has brought him to all the major European concert halls as well as in the US, the Far East and Australia. In October 2017, the National University of Ireland conferred on him an honorary Degree of Doctor of Music, and in the same year, Collins celebrated his 40th birthday with a solo recital at the National Concert Hall in Dublin as part of the Hall’s International Concert Season. Collins released a new Chopin recital CD in September 2017, a co-production between RTÉ Lyric FM and Claves Records. He has been Artistic Director of Music for Galway since 2013, and, is also the founding Artistic Director of the New Ross Piano Festival.
