Garter Lane is delighted to showcase a specially selected film ‘Hotel Salvation’ on Friday Sep 11th at 7.30pm.
“This beautifully rendered Indian arthouse film, the debut of young director Shubhashish Bhutiani, enacts a subtle family comedy-drama that anyone who has spent time with an ageing parent could relate to easily” – The Guardian
Believing that his life is coming to an end, 77 year-old Daya decides that he must travel to the Indian holy city of Varanasi so that he may attain salvation before dying. His overworked son Rajiv reluctantly accompanies him. Hotel Salvation is a charming comedy-drama about death that, at its heart, is a delightful, poignant celebration of life.
Described by Screen International as an “arthouse take on the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” and winner of the UNESCO award at the 2016 Venice Film Festival, Shubhashish Bhutiani’s debut feature Hotel Salvation is a charming comedy-drama about death that, at heart, is a delightful, poignant celebration of life.
