The Department of Children and Youth Affairs (DCYA) are seeking expressions of interest from Youth Workers for temporary deployment to residential centres for children and young people. These essential services are necessary to provide care and support to young people in home-based environments. Critical staffing shortages have come about arising from Covid-19 crises.

It highlights that one of the critical impacts arising from Covid-19 on vulnerable young people is the staffing shortages being experienced in children’s residential centres.
In response, as the parent department with responsibility for both Tusla and the youth sector DCYA is monitoring this ongoing situation regarding Covid-19, and NYCI will continue to act as a national point of contact for the Department of Children and Youth Affairs to disseminate information to the wider youth sector.
