Exotica: Greyfriars Municipal Gallery until May 18th – Tuesdays to Saturdays 10am to 5pm. Sunday 1pm – 5pm

Waterford’s municipal collection is often viewed as being largelly composed of traditional Irish subject matter and local scenery. However within the collection are many fine examples of works which can be described as striking and foreign. Exotica seeks to explore those pieces from the municipal collection which are of foreign origin or are strikingly unusual or strange in appearance. From landscapes such as ‘Near Jerez’ by George Campbell which presents to the viewer a busy but quite structured  depiction of the countryside around Jerez Spain, to portraits such as Masai Woman which depicts  a Masai woman  displaying her traditional jewellery this exhibition provides an insight into the exotic aspects of the municipal collection.

Exotica also has an extensive outreach and secondary schools programme. Ring 051 849983 to book.
