Musici Ireland, founded in 2012, is a female led chamber collective that takes pride in presenting interesting and evocative programmes. Musici consists of a core of players that welcomes collaborations with nationally and internationally celebrated musicians. This concert will present an ambitious programme prepared by Jane Hackett and Beth McNinch as well as World Premiere of Libby Croad’s “Suffragette Sonata” for solo viola introduced by the composer herself.
Jane Hackett is an Irish professional freelance violinist based between Dublin and Vienna. She performs regularly with the National Symphony Orchestra, Irish Chamber Orchestra, RTE Concert Orchestra, Irish National Opera and the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra in Vienna. She is a member of the contemporary music group, Kirkos Ensemble and is interested in cross art collaborations and has recently been commissioned to work with artists and devise performances in the area of dance and visual art.
Beth McNinch studied viola at the GSMD & RAM in London, continuing with a successful freelance career, performing with all major symphony orchestras in the UK, including the London Symphony Orchestra & BBC Symphony Orchestra. In 2021, Beth became the inaugural recipient of the SEVN artists bursary, allowing her time to research and record works for solo viola by women composers in arts venues across the southeast of Ireland. Following this, she commissioned 4 pieces for solo viola composers: Libby Croad, Deborah Pritchard, Ailbhe McDonagh and Deirdre Mackay.
