ENVIRONMENTAL ART OPEN DAY

Free. The Copper Coast on Saturday, June 18th 10am – 4pm

The Art Hand will host an Environmental Art Open Day on The Copper Coast on Saturday, June 18th. Take part in a Rock Art Relay and help make a Public Mosaic Memorial. Activities will begin at 10am on Kilmurrin Cove and continue at The Art Hand until 4pm.

Your timetable for the day; Activities will begin at 10am on Kilmurrin Cove where Sean Corcoran will be creating one of his massive sand art drawings with a rake! If you’d like to assist him please let us know in advance. At 11am we will all undertake a Rock Art Relay to embellish the sand art. This will consist of creating a large design with rocks in the sand by passing rocks from one to another like a relay race! Teamwork will be central to this fun and rewarding workshop and there will be a unique piece of art to show for all the exertions, even if it is only temporary! Such is the nature of Environmental Art. Bring your camera! Participants are asked to bring along a packed lunch (you’ll be hungry by now). At about 1pm we will make our way to The Art Hand (one kilometre away) to create a Collaborative Mosaic. The mosaic will represent a celebration of the environment and it will be permanently installed in an outdoor public location on The Copper Coast (location to be announced). Bring along some personal mementos to stick in, a few pebbles, shells, marbles, beach glass or tiles. There will be plenty of tips and tricks on environmental art from Sean and Miranda Corcoran and plenty of art on display. Explore our studio and the tools and materials we use. Refreshments will be served. Environmental Art open Day 2x

Booking; Places are strictly limited to 100 participants so you must confirm your attendance by texting all names to 087 2524657. Booking is now open. Please note; All those participating must be available for the full day. The event is suitable for all ages but children must be supervised at all times. Both locations are wheelchair friendly. If you book but realise you (or some of your group) will not be able to attend please give us as much notice as possible.
