The Waterford Healing Arts Trust (WHAT) has organised two events in celebration of Culture Night on Friday, 20th September 2013.
Claire Meaney will host a special Open Studio visual art workshop from 6pm – 7.30pm in the WHAT Centre for Arts & Health. Individuals are invited to come along and make art in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Materials are provided and no experience is necessary. This is a great opportunity for people to meet new people and develop their self esteem through their creativity. The workshop caters for all adults over the age of eighteen. This workshop is a taster of the regular Open Studio session which takes place every Thursday morning and some group members will be present to share their work. Places are limited and booking is essential.
WHAT has also organised a Healing Sounds performance in the main foyer of Waterford Regional Hospital from 6.30 – 7.15pm by local folk singer/ songwriter Neil White. Neil has played with various different bands and styles throughout his career but always returns to his roots in folk music. He has released two albums to date “Magpie’s Flight” in 2004 and “Caught in the Head Lights” in 2011 – both to critical acclaim.
