On the 21st of September, Culture Night will see venues and public spaces across Ireland open their doors to host a programme of free late-night entertainment, as part of an all-island celebration of arts, heritage and culture.

There’s also plenty of free activities for kids and teens to take part in during the day. This year Waterford Libraries are hosting six family friendly events in three of their local branches.

Culture Night Gymboree at Ardkeen LibraryHey children, get Culture Night off to a very early start by bringing your grown up to Ardkeen Library for play and music with Gymboree Play & Music Ireland at 11:00 am on Friday 21 September.

Baby Boogie:

Central Library will host Baby Boogie, music and dance workshops specifically designed for parents / guardians and babies on Friday 21 September from 10:00am.

This free event is part of our Culture for Kids day to celebrate Culture Night.

Join dance artist Jess Rowell, who will guide you in an exciting exploration of movement, colour and rhythm.

There are two workshops to choose from, depending on age:

  • 10:00am – 11:00am  – Baby Boogie for ages 0 – 1 year
  • 11:00am – 12:00pm – Baby Boogie for ages 2 – 3 years

Please note these workshops involves parent / guardian participation so please wear comfortable clothes.

This is a free Culture Night event however places are limited so advance booking is required.

Mask Making Workshop:

Join us for a Mask Making workshop with Waterford artist Jill Bouchier, as part of Central Library’s Culture Night program of events for children on Friday 21 September at 3:00pm.

This workshop is suitable for children aged 5 – 7 years old.

Tramore Library

Culture Night With Tramore Comhaltas:Comhaltas

Celebrate Culture Night  with a special musical performance from the Tramore Comhaltas Branch on Friday 21 September from 5:30pm – 6:30pm in Tramore Library. Ceol, craic agus cultúr!

Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann is the largest group involved in the preservation and promotion of Irish traditional music. They are a non-profit cultural movement with hundreds of local branches around the world.
