Tramore Coastguard Cultural Centre presents “Coastal Views” by Lisa Keane.
Opened since Saturday March 10th, Lisa Keane brings her wonderful artwork to the Tramore Coastguard Cultural Centre.
Lisa Keane is a Waterford based artist who graduated from WIT with a Ba Hons in arts in 2007. “Art was always a big part of me, ever since I was a kid. I loved anything I could make something with, from pencils and paint to plaster moulding sets and embroidery. I studied art in college because it was all I wanted to do. After the birth of my second son I reignited my passion for painting again. It started with a good friend of mine asking me to design a tattoo, she was so happy with it that it gave me that spark to keep going, keep painting and improving. Most of my inspiration stems from my boys and our adventures. I try to capture them in my paintings, their personality and innocence in a raw style to create a sense of memory or nostalgia. We love the seaside, it’s our favourite place and I find the sea draws me, to me there is nothing better than sitting watching the kids’ excitement and energy, and the water. I love the contrasting textures of the sea and cliffs, stoney strands and rocky coves. I try to convey how these places feel using lots of colour and light.”
Omega Three at the Coastguard Cultural Centre
Friday 23rd March at 8pm. Omega Three bring musical ‘heft’ to Tramore’s Coastguard Cultural Centre.
Following a short break from their hectic schedule the lads have decided to “Get back into the picture” in our Main Gallery which doubles as an intimate concert venue. As always, their visit promises an evening of lively music and merriment which leaves you with a smile on your face and a happy tune in your head. (not to be missed).
Omega Three’s set-list has been described as ‘country blues meets folk meets jazz’. The Munster Express’s Liam Murphy said ‘This is a band with musical heft’. Liam went on to describe an Omega Three gig as ‘Easy listening to a quartet of seasoned musicians fronted by Francie White, who has an amazing country blues voice, with the sort of ‘chops’ that reminded me fondly of George Melly. Ace of bassists Michael Dower sat like a Grand Senor and mellowed with panache on acoustic bass guitar, while Gerry Madden on mandolin showed how musically tight this band is. Gerry Power on guitar and vocals kept the happy mood going.
For this Coastguard Centre gig, Francie, Mickey and the pair of Gerrys will kick off at 8pm with doors at 7.30pm.
Admission is €10 and it will be a BYOB event.
