CIT Wandesford Quay Gallery, Clarke’s Bridge, Cork Deadline for Applications: 28 April, 2016 CIT Wandesford Quay Gallery is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic person to join the team as an intern with particular interest in working in arts education within a gallery context.
The intern will gain practical experience in the day-to-day running of a contemporary art gallery, including dealing with artists, students and the general public, assisting with the development of an education programme, offering curatorial assistance to exhibiting artists, arts marketing, events management and fundraising.
The intern will receive formal/informal training in the following areas: PR and Marketing, Health and Safety, Project Management and IT. CIT will aim to offer access to specific aspects of relevant academic modules, as appropriate to the identified training needs of the successful candidate, for example, in PR and marketing, Arts Education, Art History etc.
On completion, the intern will have attained skills in communicating with a wide range of professional and student artists, audiences and clients; organising events and exhibitions; arts marketing and promotion. Skills required: • Good communication skills, both written and oral • Team working skills, as well as an ability to work on your own initiative • Good organisational, time and project management skills • Confidence in dealing with the public and addressing groups of people • Knowledge and genuine interest in the arts Experience: No prior experience is required, however, a commitment to the field demonstrated by work experience would be an advantage. Education: Third Level – BA or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
This is a 9 month JobBridge Internship. An allowance of €50 per week will be paid in addition to the candidate’s current Social Welfare payment.
