Central Cinema celebrates the life and work of Agnès Varda Officiel, recently deceased French New Wave filmmaker, with one of her more provocative films, at least it was in 1965. Le Bonheur examines, with a deceptively cheery palette and the spirited strains of Mozart, the ideas of fidelity and happiness in a modern, self-centered world.
Francois Chevalier (Jean-Claude Drouot) is a young carpenter married with Thérèse (Claire Drouot). They have two little children (Olivier & Sandrine Drouot). (Yes, this is the real life family acting as a fictional family! Agnès Varda meshed fact and fiction in much of her work.)
All goes well, life is beautiful, the sun shines and the birds sing. One day, Francois meets Émilie (Marie-France Boyer), they fall in love and become lovers.
