Brendan House is a beautiful period residence set in the historical picturesque town of Birr, Offaly, Ireland.
It is adjoined by the working arts studio, known as Tin Jug Studio, which provides a hub of tranquility and inspiration to visiting and local artists.
Each year up to four professional writers are offered an opportunity to steal away from their busy lives to Brendan House, to find in their quiet moments, ideas for new writing and to put pen to paper in progress.
This is the fifth year of the Birr Writers residency and the hosts have warmly welcomed national and international, professional writers. If you are a writer that needs that little bit of peace from your daily routine maybe this is your chance to find it.
Birr is a small town in the midlands of Ireland with a rich and diverse cultural history. It is not far from the Slieve Bloom Mountains (the mountains of Offaly and Laois), and their quirky villages that lie in its foothills. There are many further natural and built heritage attractions to be discovered in the region.
