ARTS COUNCIL ART COLLECTION EXHIBITED IN GARTER LANE

Viewfinder Art : Works from the Arts Council Collection
Garter Lane Arts Centre until November 6, 10.00 – 17.00 Tuesdays to Saturdays

Viewfinder consists of over 20 works by renowned artists represented in The Arts Council Collection, including Robert Ballagh, Pauline Bewick, Basil Blackshaw, Gerard Dillon, Patrick Graham and William Scott. Exhibiting alongside these works are interpretations by children who attend the Waterford Youth Arts Saturday Art Club. The exhibition is a great opportunity for children to engage with work from the Arts Council Collections and to have their work displayed in a public art space. The exhibition is curated by artist and teacher Jill Bouchier who encouraged the three groups of children with ages ranging from 5 – 13 years to interpret their favourite art work from the selected pieces from the Arts Council Collection. There is a broad mixture of figurative and abstract pieces, including potraits, still life, landscape and interiors. The children used a variety of mediums which mirrored the original art works experimenting with watercolour, sculpture, drawing and printing techniques.
Artists include: Robert Ballagh, Margaret Becker, John Behan, Pauline Bewick, Basil Blackshaw, Charles Brady, Gemma Browne, Carey Clarke, Stephen Conlin, John Devlin, Gerard Dillon, Brendan Earley, Sean Fingleton, Patrick Graham, Pat Harris, Patrick Hennessy, Gene Lambert, Elizabeth Magill, Brian Maguire, Colin Middleton, Michael O’Dea, Arthur Power, Tracey Quinn, Hilda Roberts, William Scott, Nancy Wynne Jones.
