The Arts Council is launching a €1 million scheme to enable artists to make new, original, digital work during the Covid-19 crisis. They are also creating a new digital platform so that people across the country can experience that work in their own homes.
Worth up to €3,000 per artist the award is open to any individual who can demonstrate a track record of professional practice as an artist, regardless of whether they are currently registered with the Arts Council, or whether they have ever applied for and/or received Arts Council funding in the past. Artists and arts organisations are suffering particular hardship in the current crisis, with many incomes slashed or completely halted. The Arts Council said it has responded by fast-tracking payment of funding, undertaken remote assessment of applications, engaged in detailed cross art-form relationship management and is disseminating relevant Information to support the arts sector. It has also set-up relevant Covid-19 page which is updated regularly.
ARTS SURVEY
To give the Arts Council a deeper understanding of the impact of the crisis, and to help it work with the Department of Arts Culture & Heritage the Council is currently carrying out a number of surveys. Funded organisations and our local authority partners have already participated. Individual artists can take part by clicking here.
