Garter Lane, 24th January, 6:30pm
Garter Lane Arts Centre is delighted to announce that Waterford based artist Aaron Kirk presents his work in the Front of House space.
Aaron is a past graduate of Waterford Institute of Technology, his exhibition will officially open Thursday, January 24th at 6.30pm. All welcome to this free event.
Aaron’s work consists of images that aim to highlight topics such as homelessness, male depression, suicide, animal cruelty, abandonment, and religion. Using contrasting images and bold and strong colour, the pieces contain floral and damask like patterns and tones to give a decorative background to the images based on the topics discussed. Spray paint is the main medium used in all Aaron’s work with multi layered hand drawn and cut stencils. Presented mainly on found materials like card, tile and wood. The process of hand-cutting the intricate, detailed patterns and images is therapeutic and calming to the artist.
Paper Cracks by Aaron Kirk runs from January 9th to March 6th. This Exhibition is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 11.00am – 5.30 pm.
Admission to the exhibitions is free and all are welcome.
