Garter Lane Arts Centre, August 23rd to 1st September at 8:00pm to 10:00pm
All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others
Waterford Youth Arts in association Garter Lane Arts Centre presents George Orwell’s Animal Farm adapted by Peter Hall, with lyrics by Adrian Mitchell and music by Richard Peaslee.
Directed by Rhiann Jeffrey, Waterford Youth Arts tackles one of Orwell’s best know works, Animal Farm.
Orwell penned the tale as a dystopian text, it portrays a world where the characters seek to have a perfect or utopian society. But will the plight of the animals of Manor Farm result in a world that is worse than the world they changed?
Set design is by Dermot Quinn. Costume designer Carla Barrow brings an aesthetic that references punk; a time synonymous with powerful, rebellious creative expression in fashion, music and art.
Animal Farm is Waterford Youth Arts’ flagship production, co-produced in association with Garter Lane Arts Centre in partnership with Waterford City & County Council’s Arts Service.
Tickets: €17/€15
Preview nights Thursday 23rd and 30th of August at €10
