GOMA Gallery of Modern Art are seeking applicants for a six month fixed-term role of Director (full-time, Maternity Leave) with an additional three months shadowing (part time) prior to Maternity leave. This is to begin in December 2021.
The candidate is to be responsible for the day-to-day administrative and operational management of GOMA Gallery of Modern Art, which is located at the Viking Triangle Waterford City. Our facilities include, a programmed gallery space, 23 artist workspaces over two premises, a programmed garden space along with a workshop room, print room and photography dark room. Working with a small support team, this role is ideal for someone who can quickly grasp our ethos which is geared towards creating a vibrant and modern arts community that is active and integral to the city and region.
GOMA has approx. 8 exhibitions per year, with a programme of professional development workshops, networking events, community events, residencies emerging artist awards, performance events, music events. GOMA’s outreach programme is cognisant, working inclusively when organising such initiatives, taking local groups, new communities, young people and diversity into consideration.
This role demands excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills. GOMA Gallery has a history of supporting artists and delivering an ambitious contemporary arts programme that is inclusive. The successful candidate will be expected to continue to develop and promote an excellent artistic programme, while nurturing our education and outreach programme.
The successful candidate must have a relevant third level qualification, level 8 or hold a master’s degree with minimum of 3 years’ experience in a managerial, development or co-ordination role, ideally within the creative sector.
Experience in implementing strategic planning an advantage.

Start Date 6th Dec – 22 August 2022. Please note the role will involve a 3 month part-time position from Dec 6th to February 22nd shadowing and assisting the current Director and a 6 month full-time position from February 22nd – August 22nd ( Maternity Cover).
