30 October, 11am – 6pm, City Square Waterford
Imagine Arts Festival and Artform School of Art invite you to a POP-UP
POTRAITURE event staged by Artform on Sunday 30 October, between
11am and 6pm in City Square Waterford.
On Sunday 30 October from 11am to 4pm artists and Artform tutors Zsolt
Basti and Salvatore of Lucan, renowned for portraiture will offer to sketch
fast portraits of passers-by. As the portraits come off the easels throughout
the day, they will be exhibited and gradually cover the walls of the City
Square space, forming a Pop-Up Portraiture Exhibition. At 5pm, the show
will be inaugurated and sitters, families and friends will be invited to come
for refreshments and to collect their portraits.
The event invites to reflect on what portraiture can be in today’s social media
driven world where everyone can have their ‘15 minutes of fame’, and draws
inspiration from the current exhibition at Waterford Gallery of Art ‘Portraits:
People & Place’ showing selected works from the Waterford Art Collection.
The event is held in collaboration with artists Zsolt Basti and Salvatore of
Lucan, respectively graduates of IADT and NCAD, living and working in
Dublin. They have both exhibited with prestigious galleries and have been
awarded multiple residencies and awards such as Salvatore’s awarding of
the 2021 Zurich Portrait Prize and Zsolt’s shortlisting for same in 2022.
While the event is now fully booked you are welcome to contact Martina,
Artform’s Program Director (info@artform.ie) to join a waiting list – or just
walk in: you might be lucky, get your 15 minutes of fame and bring home a
portrait sketch by a famous artist!
