2019’s festival will be the second year that Central Arts will host the Annual 3 day event in their relaxed and intimate screening room.
Since the festival started in 2007, more than 600 films from local, national and international filmmakers. The festival also holds a screenplay competition. The Waterford Film Festival is the first film festival in the Republic of Ireland to hold a short screenplay competition.
The script competition is to encourage and support writers and every year we select up to 25 finalists and one of the prizes for the overall winner is access to filmmaking equipment and editing facilities with our partners at FilmLab Waterford.
The festival is a big supporter of independent film as well as films made by 1st time writers/producers/directors. Each year the festival screens a mix of professional films, 1st time filmmakers and student productions.
