Direct from the Metropolitan Opera in New York
The ODEON Waterford presents ‘Live in HD’, the anniversary season of ten operas live from the Metropolitan Opera in New York, which opens on Saturday 3rd of October.
Launching ‘Live in HD’ 2015/16 at Odeon Waterford is Verdi’s popular Spanish opera Il Trovatore featuring Anna Netrebko as Leonora. Audiences attending this event and the additional nine operas will experience the performances simultaneously with the Metropolitan Opera’s matinee audience. Cinema goers will be treated to ‘behind the scenes’ action as well as scene changes and live interviews with cast, crew and production teams. These screenings offer access not offered to the ‘Met’ Opera audiences at the fraction of the cost of a Metropolitan Opera ticket.
Along with the five operatic favourites of Verdi’s Il Trovatore and Otello and Puccini’s Turandot, Manon Lescaut, and Madama Butterfly ’Live in HD’ are delighted to feature performances of five productions that have never been screened by the Metropolitan Opera before: Wagner’s Tannhäuser, Berg’s Lulu, Bizet’s Les Pêcheurs de Perles, Donizetti’s Roberto Devereux, and Strauss’s Elektra.
