GRASP – BY HANNAH CARBERRY

Goma Gardens.  Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th May 2025 at 8.00 pm.,

Grasp is a fast-paced, high-energy and heartfelt new play which marks the debut of local playwright Hannah Carberry
Saturday 3 & Sunday 4 May 2025

Nadine doesn’t like to be fenced in. As an aspiring young poet, she’s always searching for answers to the world and people around her. Now, her artistic curiosity has given her a chance to start a new chapter in her life, away from the familiar confines of her life in Ireland. Yet the idea of leaving behind the people she’s grown up with brings up mixed feelings – none more profound than her bond with Ruairi, who burst into her life at eighteen and has since held a firm grip over her thoughts (and her heart). Set over a weekend away in West Cork with their friends Jade, Ava and Oisin, Nadine and Ruairi are forced to confront the truths they’ve long hidden from themselves and each other – all while partaking in jam-packed itinerary of pint-drinking and karaoke-singing.

Grasp will speak to audiences at the cusp of their adult lives, grappling with issues of identity and self worth as they learn to let go of the old relationships and thinking patterns that once defined them.
