TRADITIONAL ARTIST IN RESIDENCE

Closing date for applications is 6th June 2019. Fixed term part-time contract; 1st September 2019 – 31st August 2020.

Applications are invited from accomplished traditional artists (musicians, singers, dancers) of distinction, for the above residency, which is jointly funded by the Arts Council and the College of Arts, Celtic Studies, and Social Sciences (UCC). The role will be offered for the period September 2019-August 2020.

The appointee will advise and mentor emerging traditional artists in the UCC community, offering six contact hours per week in the form of workshops, seminars and consultation during university terms. The appointee will give two public performances, and s/he will engage in a collaborative project with staff and students leading to the production, for public dissemination, of original artistic material. In university vacations the appointee will enjoy uninterrupted time to advance his/her own projects.

Candidates should also address the following questions in their application letter:

  1. Outline the relevant skills and experience you would bring to the post of Traditional Artist in Residence.
  2. Describe the ways in which you would contribute to the development of traditional arts practice at University.
  3. Describe the ways in which you would develop your own arts practice during the residency.
